exoskeleton-serves-people-without-hands

Jacob Rosen, Research Associate Professor, Robotics and Control at University of Washington is developing a new robot named Exoskeleton, which will become a powerful set of hands for the disable users. Funds have been allocated to develop this robotic arm at National Science Foundation USA. This Exoskeleton consists of two hands, you can easily lift heavy objects. But the most important thing is that this robotic arm (Exoskeleton) is designed for people with disabilities. Exoskeleton works on the basis of “bio-port” that allows the human brain to control a robot placed on it by using the same signals that control their own muscles. The innovative design of this Exoskeleton provides 95 percent freedom of movement, as compared with normal human hand. People with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases can use Exoskeleton to increase muscle strength, as well as for rehabilitation and physical therapy. But Exoskeleton has its limitations. The developer argues that a strong mismatch between the structure of Exoskeleton and anatomical structure of human hands could lead to serious physical damage.
