Computer Memories Enhancements to Make It Faster

Tags: , , ,

Memories in computer are of two types.
1. Permanent Memories
2. Temporary Memories.
This topic will describe us about Temporary Memories. Memories are the places where data is storedfor time being in order to run the application. These memories are of several types according to technology and structure. But all are developed to enhance the speed of the computer.
Latest Memories Modules
a) SIMM (Single In-line Memory Modules)
SIMM is type of Temporary Memory that is inserted on PCB. SIMMs are made in order to store a unique and single row D-Random Access Memory and BEDO chips.
b) DIMM (Double In-line Memory Modules)
As SIMMs allow unique and one row and DIMMs allow double rows to transfer data. These are also inserted on PCB. DIMMs consists of 168 pins and these are able to transfer 64 bit chunks per second.

Silicon Solar Cell Efficiency

Tags: , ,

UNSW ( University of New South Wales) has enhanced the efficiency of Silicon Solar Cell. Before enhancement the efficiency of Silicon Solar Cell was 24.76% . Now they have made it more efficient. Silicon Solar Cell is providing 25% efficiency.
CERD Scintia Prof. Martin Green told that it was the new discovery in Silicon Solar Cell technology. Now we have latest technology to mix up sunlight to generate the more power from silicon solar cell. In more detail he explained that during the day the power of sunlight changes so the spectrum efficiency also changes so we have made the variation stable and now getting more efficient cell.
Dr Anita Ho-Baillie has also admired the struggle and said that it would open the new horizons of Solar Cell chemistry. UNSW has provided the gateway to research more on this topic. Dr Anita Ho-Baillie said that they had not wasted the blue light as it was absorbed more and remains close the surface of the cell. And this point has made the cell more efficient

The New Invention of Universal Detector

If a metal is hit suddenly and with force with light then as a result the electrons on the outer layer flow into waves which are named as plasmons. They give off light of their own body. The studies show that the frequency of that emitted radiation (light) is actually tells about the electronic characteristic nature of the surface of the metal. This light is likely to be readily affected by contaminations.Kevin Tetz has worked on this phenomenon in collaboration with his fellow scientists. They belong to the Ultrafast and Nanoscale Optics Group at the University of California, San Diego. They succeeded in designing a system to use them in trying for any surface contamination on the surface of any material.

They took a slim layer of metal and then drilled it with nanoscale holes by placing it onto the surface of the material being examined. They bombarded the perforated metal plate with laser light. In a result of that zapping, the surface plasmons gave off light; that emitted light’s frequency was the result of the particles hitting the plate. A sensitive light detector is required to get the measurements of the frequency of light being emitted.

The team working on this idea tells that by using this approach on latest devices will make them smaller in size and portable. The devices will function on low power. They would be able to determine the existence of anything from explosive substances to bacteria.

The only one thing which is required is to build a system having the capability to decode the light signatures.
