Facebook officially launched its Messenger for Windows platform. This Facebook Messenger is available free as desktop client. The desktop client lets you persistently chat with your online Facebook friends, receive notifications, and read your news feed on your desktop. You can also see and respond to chats right from your desktop. Whether you’re browsing other websites or using another application, you don’t have to click away on different browser tabs or windows to stay connected. By using Facebook Desktop client you can find out about new comments, photo tagging activity and more as soon as they happen online.
Right now The desktop client is available for Windows 7 platform Only, Facebook announced it will soon release Desktop Messenger Client for earlier versions of Windows Operating System including Windows XP and Windows Vista. Facebook Desktop Messenger for Mac, linux and other Operating systems is also on the way.
Facebook’s Desktop Messenger for Windows Platform will help Facebook in two core ways:
- Persistent access to Chat will increase engagement of the primary user, and also draw their friends to spend more time on Facebook
- Persistent access to notifications, messages, and friend requests that launch Facebook.com may lead to more return visits than users haphazardly stopping by the website to check for these alerts
Install Facebook Messenger Desktop Client for Windows 7
If you have Windows 7 installed on your desktop PC or Laptop, you can set up the app by clicking the Install button on official Page of Facebook Messenger for Windows.
1- Download the Application on your hard drive
2- Double clicking “FacebookMessengerSetup.exe”
3- Client will execute and download setup files from online server
4- After finishing the setup, execute Facebook Messenger from Start Menu – Programs – Facebook – Facebook Messenger
3- Login with your email id and password
